Woodlands Eatery

A few Sunday's ago a couple of us decided to head out into the cold, to find a cozy spot to have a large glass of wine and a snack of some sort before heading home and calling an end to the weekend.

Tretchikoff in Cape Town

If you are a Tretchikoff fan then you'll be happy to hear that there is an exhibition of his work in Cape Town until September 25th at the Iziko South African National Gallery.

Wine Tasting - right from the barrel!

testpic

When I was a child, I fantasised about lying under a cow and having fresh, warm, creamy milk pour straight into my mouth (keep in mind it was a childhood dream, void of any issues revolving around food hygiene), now that I'm an adult, my dream has changed somewhat to me drinking a great wine wine straight from the barrel - I didn't actually imagine that this would ever come true but then I heard about the Durbanville Hills Chardonnay barrel tasting on August 11th and I signed up immediately.

Jazz, Cheese and Wine

What does Jazz, Cheese and Wine have in common?  Nothing, unless you are going to the Delheim Jazz, Cheese and Wine evening, held every Sunday until July 31st.

Winter Warming Fun

testpic

When winter hits, all I want to do is curl up in-front of an open fire with a good glass of red wine and consume bowl after bowl of soup or stew with friends who want the same thing.

Mandela Month

I've decided to christen July, Mandela Month because while I was searching online for fun things to do around Cape Town, two very interesting things came up, both of which revolve around our former President and who many of us affectionately call, Madiba.

Hidden Gems in Nature

For those of you who enjoy being out in nature while at the same time expending some energy, you will be spoiled for choice in Cape Town.

Hidden Gems of Traditional Music

testpic

Have you ever fancied learning how to play a (or for some of us, another) musical instrument?  If the answer is yes but you just aren't sure which one, then I'd say what about the Marimba?

New City Bowl Market

testpic

On Saturday morning a friend and I eagerly made our way to the new market in the City Bowl.  If you have been with us for a while you will know that markets are one of my favourite places, with the Biscuit Mill topping that list, however when I heard about this market, which was positioning itself as the 'new Biscuit Mill, just closer to town', I couldn't resist - especially since it is literally 3 minutes from my front door.

Kirstenbosch Winter Concert Line-Up

testpic

Winter in Cape Town can be a little depressing, grey skies and cold weather make any type of socialising an effort especially if you have to get out of your warm slippers and head out into the wet weather, however I am willing to give my slippers the night off and rist wet hair for the Kirstenbosch Winter Concerts which take the place of the very popular Summer Concert Series which I religeously attend during summer.

Christmas in Winter

testpic

If you feel like celebrating Christmas in 'true' style with log fires, snow (if you're lucky) and roast dinners, then perhaps you should head to Tulbagh on the weekend of June 25th and 26th.

International Documentary Film Festival

The Encounters International Documentary Film Festival is currently being held in South Africa until June 26th so if you are an avid film lover, especially of the more serious style of documentaries, then you are in the perfect place at the perfect time.
