Sandy Bay Saddle

Sandy Bay, well know as Cape Town’s only nude beach (unofficially of course), has never really held too much attraction for us in terms of a great beach to hang out on, however on Saturday a couple of us were in Hout Bay for a braai and decided to watch the sun set from the Sandy Bay Saddle.

The Sandy Bay saddle overlooks the beach and gives you a perfect 180 degree view over the ocean. White sandy dunes surround you on either side which are also dog friendly as the 2 hounds we had with us would endorse enthusiastically, if they were able to type, write or speak of course…

We also took a bottle of wine which - with the current alcohol consumption laws on our beaches making enjoying a glass while watching the sunset a little difficult – hydrated us after the mad chase after the dogs over the dunes to get there.

This hidden gem is a bit out the way (you have to trek over the dunes to get there), but well worth the effort for a spectacular sunset!
