St James Path
I have driven between Muizenburg and St James /Kalk bay hundreds of times (even run it on one of my marathons), but walking between the two had never occurred to me until I was told about a foot-path that wound the entire stretch and was practically on the ocean edge.
Parking at Muizenburg beach, finding the path towards the back of the gravel car park, we set off with the sea on one side and the railway tracks on the other, enjoying the False bay scenery at a pace that allows you to see things you hadn’t seen before, like the little multicoloured changing huts and tidal pool just before St James (a short walk from the beautiful The St James guesthouse), I’d seen them but never actually gone down to have a look – this path takes you literally right past them – so I could have a good snoop around.
Once at St James the path ends, so we took a leaisurely walk back towards Muizenburg.
I was pleasantly surprised at finding this little hidden gem of a path and with it being dog and jogger friendly, I will definitely be revisiting it in the future.
