C’est La Vie coffee shop in Kalk Bay
After visiting Lisa at the biggest little wine shop in the world, I was told about the most amazing French bakery around the corner. There is something special about Kalk Bay, in that there is a hidden gem around every corner. I've been visiting this little seaside village for years, and every time I seem to find something new to wonder at.
This time was no different, and Jo, the patron of C'est La Vie (see pic on the right), has created something pretty special here.
With both bread and coffee to savour, and a relaxing Mediterranean ambience, it felt like I hit the jackpot when I walked through the door.
No trip to Cape Town should be without a stop over at this coffee paradise.
An added bonus is Kyle, their resident barista, who takes 'the art of coffee' to another level. Check out the pics below for an idea of what it looks like. The artworks never lasts long, since the coffee is way too tasty.
It takes a bit of searching to find this little hideaway, but I suppose that makes it just that much more interesting.
If you're up for it, park your car just before you hit Kalk Bay proper (driving from Muizenberg) in the sand car park next to the ocean. Take a stroll across to the African art gallery, where you'll see Lisa's Little Wine Shop, and then stroll through to the bakery in the back. Have fun!
