During the holidays I visited the Lindt studio and was absolutely blown away – of course this could have been because of my absolute love of chocolate, dark chocolate in fact and especially Lindt since it is my favourite.
On December 16th, the Good Hope Gardens Nursery - an indigenous nursery near Cape Point - will be hosting the annual Fynbos and Food Fair. As with most events of this nature in the Cape you can expect excellent local farming produce, entertainment, delicious home made food and on this occasion, discounted indigenous plants.
The thought of trawling the mall for Christmas gifts always elicits feelings of dread for me - firstly because I hate shopping and secondly because I hate being inside when I know it is a beautiful day out - however, there seems to be a solution to that problem, The Fab Ideas Christmas Gift Fair!
If you enjoy wine and Jazz then you are in luck, on November 26th Nederburg will be hosting a classical music and jazz event at the Estate in Paarl. This promises to be an afternoon filled with sun, family fun and of course music and wine.
Franschhoek is known for its high concentration of great restaurants, not to mention award winning wine farms and boutique-type shops which line the quaint high street, which looks like it is stuck in the 18th century. I was in town for the evening and decided to eat at the French Connection - you are totally spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding where to go, so my decision was based purely on how far I was prepared to walk from where I was staying - which wasn't very far although this still puts a handful of restaurants onto the 'options' list.
It's that time of year again, when flowers are blooming and trees are in blossom - which of course includes vines, grape vines to be more specific. This time of year also heralds the promise of long lazy days in the sun, with a fresh, chilled glass of wine and a picnic basket packed to brimming! If this all sounds rather appealing to you, then I'd suggest you head to Nitida Wine Farm in Durbanville on Saturday and Sunday, October 1st and 2nd for the Season of Sauvignon weekend.
If you love the idea of surrounding yourself with beautiful things and delicious treats, then I'd suggest you head to The Constantia for High Tea.
As you all know I love a good market, so it is with great excitement that I tell you about yet another hidden gem, this time in the seaside town of Muizenberg.
How would you like to spend an afternoon with your friends in plush surroundings, being plied with decadent home-baked goodies, fresh coffee and splendid tea - all for the reasonable cost of just one click...?
A few Sunday's ago a couple of us decided to head out into the cold, to find a cozy spot to have a large glass of wine and a snack of some sort before heading home and calling an end to the weekend.
When I was a child, I fantasised about lying under a cow and having fresh, warm, creamy milk pour straight into my mouth (keep in mind it was a childhood dream, void of any issues revolving around food hygiene), now that I'm an adult, my dream has changed somewhat to me drinking a great wine wine straight from the barrel - I didn't actually imagine that this would ever come true but then I heard about the Durbanville Hills Chardonnay barrel tasting on August 11th and I signed up immediately.
