In the planning phase for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, there was money put aside by the City of Cape Town to develop the areas surrounding what would be the new Cape Town Stadium, this included upgrades to the Promenade as well as a golf course and an urban park where the Green Point common used to be.

Franschhoek is known for its high concentration of great restaurants, not to mention award winning wine farms and boutique-type shops which line the quaint high street, which looks like it is stuck in the 18th century.  I was in town for the evening and decided to eat at the French Connection - you are totally spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding where to go, so my decision was based purely on how far I was prepared to walk from where I was staying - which wasn't very far although this still puts a handful of restaurants onto the 'options' list.

If you are visiting South Africa and Cape Town in particular, I have no doubt that you have been blown away by the incredible natural diversity which we are blessed with.  From mountains, to oceans, rivers, animals and a floral kingdom which you won't find anywhere else on earth - Cape Town treats us to a feast for the eyes and the senses.

If you are looking for incredible food, great service and value for money then look no further!  La Mouette in Sea Point is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time, I will be making this my default establishment of choice when I feel like treating myself.

If you are visiting Cape Town then there is a good chance that doing a wine tour of some sort is on your itinerary.  The problem with wine tours is that you can't mix the sheer pleasure of indulging in some of South Africa's finest wines, with driving from farm to farm - BUT, don't despair because Sightseeing Cape Town has provided a solution to this problem...

If you love the idea of surrounding yourself with beautiful things and delicious treats, then I'd suggest you head to The Constantia for High Tea. 

On Kloof Street, heading up towards the mountain you pass a number of interesting looking buildings, one of which you can't really see because it has a large orange wall around it. 

In it's eighth year, the Wacky Wine Weekend has grown from humble beginnings to an event which is anticipated with excitement by many people in the Western Cape. 

This weekend is the Two Oceans Marathon, said to be the the most beautiful marathon in the world, if you are not running then you want to either be supporting the runners along the route, or at the end cheering them in. 

The Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, or KKNK is an arts and cultural festival held in the Karoo town of Oudtshoorn.  Predominantly showcasing Afrikaans work, the KKNK is very popular in the visual arts industry and is one of the biggest events this area sees.

Valentines Day is on Monday so just in case you have forgotten, you do have a few days to get something together for your partner or loved one.  There are so many wonderful things you can do together in Cape Town, the first thing you should decide on is what type of thing would suit you both the best?
