What does running and sightseeing have in common? If your first answer was ‘getting lost’ then well done, that is exactly what my answer would have been - however there are a few other things too like seeing new places, having fun outdoors and generally learning something new about yourself, your living space or someone else.
Now I want to know how many of you would like to combine running and sightseeing? If you found yourself shouting me, me, me (in your mind) then this is for you!
My City Running Tours is a service for all those people visiting Cape Town who are avid runners and would like to fit a run into their sightseeing schedule but don’t know where to go, how far out to venture, which areas are safe to run in or are just curious about the areas they are running through.
As the runner you can search for routes based on the distance you want to cover, whether you want a trail run or a road run or even what scenery you would like to see. Once you have booked the run online a running ‘guide’ will usually meet you where you are staying or at a designated point and run the route you chose, pointing out places of interest and sharing in any running stories all the while making sure you don’t get lost or bored.
My City Running Tours is a fabulous idea (in my bias runners opinion) because it takes the uncertainty out of planning a route and can bring a whole new meaning to what sightseeing in a new place is all about.
