Leana is the manageress of The Long Beach Retreat.
HTLW: Tell us a little about yourself?
Leana: I am a very energetic hospitality graduate with a passion for people and creating lasting memories. I enjoy what I do and love to see the effect it has on my staff and guests.
HTLW: Why do you love working at The Last Word?
Leana: They gave me the opportunity to kick-start my career with the freedom to express myself and grow into a successful manager. It is like being part of a family.
HTLW: Funniest moment you’ve had at the Retreat or with a guest?
Leana: Guests often confuse the kelp for whales or seals and we can have a lot of fun with this illusion. The baboons that come for surprise visits every now and then also keep us on our toes. We experience moments as a team and create new memories daily.
HTLW: What do you think guests love the most about The Long Beach?
Leana: Our serene setting and tranquil feel is what makes guests want to stay a little longer. We create a very comfortable and homely environment where guests feel relaxed and safe.
HTLW: What’s your favourite thing about Cape Town/Franschhoek?
Leana: As someone who grew up in the country side, I find Cape Town so diverse and incredibly beautiful. Even when you are in the city centre, you are reminded of our amazing surroundings every time you look up and see the world renowned mountain. There is this excitement in the air, and in the people, that makes me proud to be a Capetonian.
